The Bonnell 775 MX sits between a downhill mountain bike and a lightweight dirt bike: it has pedals and a 165mm crankset, so you can ride it as a low-power pedal-assist e-MTB, or open it up through the Lekkie twist throttle as an e-moto with 6,000W and 280Nm of torque. It weighs 34kg, and the 1,300Wh CYC A65 battery gives a claimed 20 to 60km of range. The frame is a 4130 chromoly front triangle with forged 6061 aluminium chainstays, running 170mm of rear travel on a Suntour Voro Coil and 200mm up front on a Suntour Rux 38 RC+ dual crown fork, with Magura MT5 four-piston brakes on 220mm and 203mm rotors. Wheels are mixed: 29-inch front, 27.5-inch rear, on Maxxis Assegai tyres. It comes in Medium, Large and X-Large, with a charger, multi-tool and shock pump in the box. Intended use is off-road.

How do I switch the Bonnell 775 MX between e-MTB and e-moto riding?

You can ride at low power with pedal assist or at full power on the throttle, with the CYC Intuition display and the Bonnell Ride Control App for control and ride data. There are also two rear shock positions (comfort and sport) and an adjustable chainstay of 440mm or 452mm. 

Collect in store and PEDL assembles it; if shipped, a qualified mechanic must assemble it before you ride.

What comes in the box with the Bonnell 775 MX?

The bike with minimal assembly required, the battery and CYC 5A charger, a Bonnell 13-function multi-tool, and a shock pump. The spec also lists Bonnell flat aluminium pedals, two tubeless valves and a short integrated front fender. This product contains a button or coin cell battery; keep it away from children.

When is the Bonnell 775 MX the wrong choice?

If you want a road-legal e-bike: at 6,000W this is not a low-powered pedal-assist bicycle, and Bonnell describes its use as off-road. If you need a frame size now in Slate, it is sold out in every size, and Texas Grey and Amethyst are sold out in X-Large. If you want long range at full power: the 20 to 60km claim spans the range from hard riding to gentle riding, so expect the low end at full throttle. If you are not willing to have it professionally assembled then this is not the bike for you.
